Attendance policy

This writes an attendance policy as the five numbers it actually is. Points for an unexcused absence, for a tardy and for a no-call, no-show; the threshold at which the policy ends employment; and the rolling window the points count in. Three events, three point values

A points policy scores three things: an unexcused absence, a tardy past the grace the policy allows, and a no-call, no-show, which is the one that leaves the shift short without warning and is usually scored highest. The template takes a point value for each so the policy says in numbers what it means by serious.

The threshold and the window are the policy's tolerance

The threshold is the points at which employment ends, and the window is how long a point counts before it falls off. Eight points in twelve months is a different policy from eight points in six, and the template states both so the tolerance is written rather than implied. Neither number is published here; both are yours.

How many of each reaches the line, stated plainly

The threshold divided by the points for each event is how many of that event alone ends employment: eight absences, sixteen tardies or four no-calls on the worked example. Stating it turns the policy from arithmetic into a warning an employee can act on, and it is the line a write-up quotes.
