Your numbers

The figures above start from a worked example (90). Change any input and the answer updates as you type.

This is an employee attendance tracker for a period, in the two rates a manager actually reads. Shifts scheduled less shifts missed is shifts worked; shifts worked over shifts scheduled is the attendance rate; and shifts worked on time over shifts scheduled is the on-time rate, where the gap between the two is the tardiness. Every figure is yours; the tool publishes no norm. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan keeps the tracker per employee with the points in the window.

Scheduled shifts are the denominator

An attendance rate is shifts worked over shifts scheduled, and it has to start from the schedule rather than from days in the month, or the rate cannot be reconciled with the roster. Enter the shifts scheduled in the period and the missed and late shifts against them.

Attendance rate and on-time rate, apart

Twenty scheduled with two missed is eighteen worked and 90%; three of those started late makes the on-time rate 75%. The two rates are shown apart because a late shift is not a missed one and the policy scores them differently, and the gap between them is the pattern a small crew feels first.

The tracker becomes the record when it is kept

A rate for one period is a number; a rate per employee per period, with the events that made it scored as points in the window, is the record. The paid plan keeps it per person, updates it from each shift's roll call, and exports it when payroll or the question comes.

Employee attendance tracker template: common questions

Is this a free employee attendance tracker template?

Yes. Enter the shifts scheduled, missed and started late for the period, and it works out the shifts worked and the attendance and on-time rates on the page, no account and no card. Print it as it stands. RollCallWorks Pro keeps the tracker per employee with the points in the window.

Should I track in shifts, days or hours?

Shifts, for a crew that works a roster: it is what was scheduled and what the policy scores. Days work where everyone works one shift a day; hours hide a missed shift inside a long week. The template works in shifts; enter days as shifts if that is how your roster runs.

Does a late shift count as attended?

In the attendance rate, yes: the shift was worked. In the on-time rate, no, and under most policies it scores a tardy. The template shows both rates so the difference is visible, and the points calculator on this site scores the tardies.
